Campfire Chat
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
Push snowballs, jump, and chat together into the long night.
Someone has to host the server, but then tell your friends your IP and port and they can all connect! Note that the host is likely to have to do some finicky technical stuff with port forwarding, lowering firewalls, etc. To customize the server port, just add "-port XXX" in the command line. The default port is 7777.
Controls (also visible in game):
- Enter to start chatting or send message
- Escape to stop chatting
- WASD to move
- Z - hold to sit
- Spacebar to jump (hold to jump higher!)
- 1 through 6 to change look randomly
There is no winning or end. It's just a place to be.

ok, this looks awesome, and i've had fun getting it up and running. couple of points! first, a linux client would be great. I set up a server on a vps i have running on linux and it works great, but having to have windows to run the client it frustrating.
second, i would love if we could use domain names instead of IP addresses, the vps i have the server on has a domain name attached, but typing that in instead of the address just causes nothing to happen at all.
doesnt work for some reason. i extracted it, but it still doesnt open.
if this was secretly a horror game i'd be so happy
I would love to see this added as a Discord activity with the new SDK thing they added!
Nice!
mac-only user here so unfortunately I can't play it - but! i absolutely LOVE this idea and i wish i was able to try this, it would be amazing for me and my online friends :'D
we used to play games together and would talk there and it'd feel like we were actually next to each other, but now none of us particularly game anymore so we've lost that special place to connect and just default to normal chats. this sounds so so nice and i would love to experience it
or some reason it doesnt work on my gpu.
How to make a server
for some reason i got this:

does anyone one know how to solve that?
can you make a web version
Would love an Apple version! would probably buy it if There was an Apple version.
Mac is the most annoying platform to build games for. I don’t know how others do it, but the one way I know of is that you have to be part of Apple’s walled garden ecosystem, which means buying their hardware with their OS, as well as paying for a developer license to have access to XCode, their proprietary build system.
yeah bro, Mac is not something for indie devs. just stay away from it lmaooo
game!
A linux client version would be welcome.
+1
I was fooled by the Linux icon here
it would be possible to use this game with parsec? instead of playing with ports and our firewalls. .
Please make one for Android as well please. It will blow up!
I second this
yup yup !!
Is there no Linux client?
how do you host a room
Great work this is very cute!
Really cool idea, lovely art style and well developed game <3
using the default ip and port it just wont run
Hello. Usually if some game hosting won't work it is because you, by default, don't allow requests from the internet through your router to your PC.
But before you tinker around with opening ports and stuff, which can be a security risk (!!!), try the programm "hamachi" from LogMeIn.
It basically is a programm that creates a virtual-privat-Network with the people you are inviting into your group on hamachi.
Just google it, install, create a group and then let your friends connect to the hamachi-vpn-IP (everyone gets a new, secondary, weird IP) :)
That should always work!
(i have not played and not tested this tho! But hamachi usually works)
So, I installed it, created a network, but don't understand what to do next
i have not used it in a while, but there are a lot of tutorials out there.
Just google a bit or search on youtube.Essentially as soon as hamachi opens, you have a "second network" with other hamachi users that have joined that network. And after that you also have to give them that hamachi IP-Adress if you are hosting the game.
Good luck.
for some reason it doesnt work on my gpu... I have a rx 6800 xt
cool, but now I need friends...
X''D
I wish there was another way to play it because it looks so fun but I can't use zip
Why can't you? Just download any extraction program (like winrar)
7zip's also solid.
I like the project if you need help woth siund design or music let me know! Great job!
does anyone have any active servers
Cute artstyle
